Patrick J. Watson
Patrick J. Watson is a Northern Irish Composer, Producer, and Classically Trained Multi-Instrumentalist. After more than a decade of performing and touring with many orchestras and ensembles between Ireland and England, often holding principal positions, Patrick was appointed as Northern Ireland Percussion Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation at the end of 2019.
Outside of performance, he has worked alongside many songwriters as a producer, engineer, orchestrator and composer, across a variety of genres. Still, he is currently working on the first in a series of albums as a Composer.
A chameleon of music in composition and performance, Patrick loves writing and performing in many different styles and settings. Originally writing electronic music almost exclusively, he slowly progressed into contemporary classical, and electro-acoustic music, but has also been known to compose in many other genres.
Experimenting with the fusion of musical styles led to a passion for Film Music, and the undertaking and completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Production at Leeds Conservatoire. Here he focused heavily on Contemporary Classical Composition, studied Composition and Production for Film and Television, and continued many orchestral commitments between England and Northern Ireland, touring the United Kingdom and Europe shortly before graduating.
After living and working in Leeds until 2021, Patrick returned to Northern Ireland. He then began working on the film “Cold Start” with Los Angeles-based writer and director Richard Townsley. “Cold Start” premiered at LA Shorts International Film Festival 2022, an Academy Award Qualifying Event, as part of the Official Selection. Shortly after completing this film, Patrick began working on “Sisters” with director Christopher Norton and MonkeyDribble Films and has since begun working on three more titles with the company, scheduled throughout the following year.
Recently, Patrick has been commissioned to score two more films in California and is set to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Professional Media Composition with ThinkSpace Education and the University of Chichester.
